Hi Graham, I'm still getting to grips with SL basics (only visited once so far) at the moment so not sure if I'll find my way. But I'm going to try.

I think it could be a good experience for both me and them. Great if you can stay for a few minutes after + take us to the BC Isle, answer questions + say something about the Merlin Quest. We need to be away as well beofre 4.00. Cheers, Ann

We'll try and record this one, Alexandra, so you'll at least be able to hear what was said if you don't make it

Hi Ann, right - that's fine....sorry about the way it's turned out...I can hang around a little after it's finished and take them to the BC Isle for a chat if you like

Hi Graham, Right, me and my group of 11 MA students will be attending. Our session doesn't start until 3.30 so I imagine we won't get there before 3.45 (our time). Won't have had a chance to even show them the SL basics so we might be bumping into…

My Japanese vocabulary lesson

Here're the materials from my demo lesson of two years ago which I did as part of my LanguageLab training. These materials have not been published so far in any form. You can use them in any way you like, as long as you do it on a non-commercial basis. The original post appeared last year on the VWLL Ning page: http://evovwll.ning.com/profiles/blogs/japanese-restaurant-vocabulary. Enjoy!

My events: Teaching practice help session 2

A very useful meeting to discuss some of the crucial issues in actually planning and carrying out a SL lesson. Some important topics: taking studnts out, visiing places, using clothing for teaching, furnishing a house, teaching syntax and reading/writing in-world, object permissions... I promised to post my Japanese lesson script from two years ago (my course with LanguageLab), which I have done here: http://tlinvw.ninContinue

I thank all organizers , moderators and builders in SL to give me the opportunity to deeply explore SL in a much more organized way than I’ve been doing on my own and the possibility of intercultural expe

Writing or keypunching for an audience?: A reflection that crossed my mind.

Hi,

We have seen plenty of good examples here of writing-for-an audience stemming from our keyboards. Much of the writing is a one-shot event and we observe much less or no drafting and re-drafting (or even spelling checking**) in what we write. Judging from the data alone, it seems to me that the notion that writing is a process in which revising plays a huge role is all but gone in what I read and what I write myself. The fast pace of writing (writing a question, replying, ma
